Towards the middle of the 20th century, as he was visiting a patient in the village of Amizmiz next to Marrakech, Dr Dubois-Roquebert was overcome by the beauty of this area in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. He decided to buy a property and to have a secondary home built in Morocco there.

Curious about such a choice, king Mohammed V will return visit  to his doctor a few years later. This Royal Visit still marks the hearts and minds of all mizmizis which named the belvedere built up in that occasion a few steps away from the doctor’s estate, "anral nou galid "which means in Berber "the site of the King".

The doctor was closely associated in 1953 to the sequence of the banishment and exile of King Mohammed V and his family by the French colonizer. He was then led to take an active part upon the King’s return to his Throne and in the accession of Morocco to Independence such as King Hassan II relates it in his book " Le Défi " (Editions Albin Michel 1976).

The surgeon used this quiet place to rest and to get rid of the stress which imposed him his professional life. One of its joys was to have the calmness and harmony which frees from this place shared by his family and friends.

In 2005 the doctor’s children create Maroc Lodge which they dedicate to their father’s memory.

The memories linked to this unique place gives Tourism an opportunity to meet History
