Marrakech is one of those cities that captivates its visitors time and time again. With so much to see and do it can be difficult to know where to start if you just have a day there. To help we have provided an itinerary which packs in the best sites and activities, and guarantees that you will fall in love with this magical city.

9.00am

Start the day with breakfast in the courtyard of one of Marrakech’ stunning riads. The riads in Marrakech have magnificent architecture and are designed with an interior garden, a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the streets and the perfect place to tuck in to some delicious food and contemplate the exciting day ahead.

10.00am

After breakfast head out through Marrakech’s main square, Djemaa el-Fna towards the Medina grabbing a fresh and delicious orange juice on your way from one of the many stands.

10.15am

Now it is time to get in to the heart of Marrakech and venture in to the Medina with its winding streets with vendors selling just about everything imaginable. Get in to the spirit by bartering for some leather and take a break to sip mint tea with the locals and absorb the atmosphere and culture of this fascinating city.

12.15pm

After a couple of hours getting lost in the Medina you will have worked up an appetite and be ready for some lunch. Find yourself a shady spot on a restaurant terrace and order some delicious Moroccan food. Always highly recommended is Al Fassia and Villa Flore.

2.00pm

After lunch take a stroll to Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech’s new city. This enchanting garden, that took French painter Jacques Majorelle 40 years to create and was saved from development in 1980 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge is absolutely spectacular. A wide range of colourful plants expertly decorate the gardens and it is the perfect place to wander around whilst the lunch settles.

4.00pm

Hammams are a huge part of the Moroccon culture and treating yourself to one is a great way to end a day of sightseeing. After relaxing in the steam rooms and being exfoliated, massaged and cleansed you will feel relaxed and invigorated and ready to see how Marrakech comes alive as the evening draws in.

6.00pm

There is no better way to see the sunset then in one of Marrakech’s rooftop bars. With the stunning setting of the changing colours of the rooftops and the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains you will find it hard to put your camera away.

8.00pm

Once the sun has well and truly disappeared head back to the Djemaa el-Fna where the noise and energy is captivating with its many street performers entertaining the crowds, and endless food stands serving up delicious Moroccan cuisine. Wander round for a while and enjoy the performers and the atmosphere before choosing a spot to relax and eat your evening meal and toast a great day in Marrakech.
